The Older I Get, The Less I Want to People
There comes a point in life when your idea of a perfect Friday night changes.
It isn't loud bars. It's not standing shoulder-to-shoulder with strangers while somebody spills a $14 beer on your shoes.
It's sitting on your back patio with a Michelob Ultra, your dog at your feet, your favorite Salty Grit shirt on, and absolutely nobody asking you to "live a little."
Congratulations. You've matured.
Somewhere along the way, "going out" became "Do we really have to?"
You know what sounds amazing now? Canceling plans.
Finding a parking spot close to the front door.
A restaurant that's quiet enough to hear the person sitting across from you. Leaving before 9:00.
It's not that we've become antisocial. We've become selective.
Our social battery isn't dead. We're just tired of wasting it on people who confuse drama for a personality.
The older you get, the more you realize peace is underrated.
You stop arguing online. You stop trying to convince people they're wrong.
You stop pretending to enjoy things you never liked in the first place.
That's grit.
Not changing who you are to make everyone else comfortable.
That's exactly why we make the shirts we do.
They're not for everybody.
They're for the people who'd rather be authentic than agreeable.
Some conversations deserve words. Others are better handled by cotton.
Gritty Tip of the Week
Protect your peace like it's the last cold beer in the cooler. Not every invitation deserves a "yes," and not every opinion deserves your energy.
The Grit Fix
If your wardrobe still says, "I'm trying to fit in," it might be time to let your shirt introduce the real you. Find the one that makes you laugh every time you put it on. Chances are, it'll make the right people laugh too.
Final Flip
Life gets a whole lot better when you stop worrying about being everyone's favorite person.
Be your favorite person instead.
The rest will figure itself out.
What's Got You Salty?
What's one thing you used to enjoy that you absolutely avoid now?
Drop it in the comments.
It might inspire our next shirt.
