Not Everything Needs Your Opinion
Somewhere along the way, we decided that having an internet connection meant we were all required to become experts.
Someone gets a divorce. Opinion.
Someone changes their hair. Opinion.
A stranger's kid is throwing a tantrum in Target. Opinion.
A celebrity eats a sandwich. Somehow, we've got 47 people in the comments ready to explain why they're doing it wrong.
Here's a crazy thought:
Maybe shut the hell up.
Not forever. Just occasionally.
You don't need an opinion on everything. You don't need to comment on everything.
And you definitely don't need to write a six-paragraph Facebook dissertation because somebody you've never met bought the wrong kind of mayonnaise.
Nobody asked. Nobody needed it. And absolutely nobody is changing their life because Kevin from Facebook thinks they're making poor choices.
There's a difference between having an opinion and needing everyone else to know you have one. That's the part we've apparently forgotten.
Sometimes you can see something you disagree with and simply keep scrolling. Wild concept, I know. You don't have to fight with strangers. You don't have to correct everybody. You don't have to turn Thanksgiving dinner into a congressional hearing because Uncle Steve said something you didn't like.
You can just sit there. Eat the turkey. Drink your beer. Move the conversation along.
And if somebody insists on dragging you into it? Well... That's what sarcasm is for.
A good sarcastic shirt can accomplish in six words what three paragraphs of arguing can't. It can make your point. It can make somebody laugh. And occasionally, it can make the right person realize they're probably better off finding someone else to bother.
That's one of the things we love about Salty Grit. Our shirts don't require a debate. They're not here to convince you that you're right.
They're here to say, this is who I am, this is what I think is funny, and if you don't like it...that's okay.
You don't have to like everything. You just don't get to demand that everyone else change because you don't.
Gritty Tip of the Week
Before you hit "post," ask yourself three questions:
Did anyone ask? Does anyone care? Will this still matter in five minutes?
If the answer is no to all three, congratulations. You just saved yourself from becoming Kevin.
The Grit Fix
Stop wasting your energy trying to win arguments with people who came to the internet looking for a fight.
Wear the shirt. Take the sip. Keep scrolling.
Your peace is worth more than proving a stranger wrong.
Final Flip
You don't have to attend every argument you're invited to. Some invitations belong in the trash. Some opinions belong in your head.
And some people desperately need to discover the beautiful little button that says unfollow.
Life's too short to argue with idiots. Especially when there's beer in the fridge.
Cheers, bitches. 🍺

What's something people absolutely do not need to have an opinion about?
